Loki: literally back from the dead after trying to kill himself

Thor:

Loki: literaly being the only person loyal to Odin in Thor (2011) despite what Loki found out

Loki in series: I betrayed my father

image

well, yes, but you see it’s a bit different when it’s Loki doing the bad thing, so, no,

loki’s gaslit arc 😔

“no no you don’t understand it’s okay when they screw me over but when I do it I feel guilty about it and it’s my fault and I betrayed them all.”

#😩😩😩

#“loki killed two guards at the start of the movie” up shut your mouth odin was about to make THOR king

#no one cared about the dead people in the vault !!!!

#but you know i think i’d care if thor on his coronation day was declaring war on jotunheim bc he wanted to intimidate/oppress them

#thor’s kill count on jotunheim: 144

#people in the notes: but loki killed 2 people!!!

#be quiet!!!!!!

#i know he did!!!!!

#that wasn’t a personal thing though!!!!!

#the betrayals started with everyone turning on loki (sans thor who loki betrayed) and everyone else deserved it!!!!

#the Loki show

loki: *survives a literal suicide attempt*
thor: omg how could you betray me like this

loki: *survives being impaled on svartalfheim*
thor: omg how could you betray me like this

loki™: *escapes enslavement by literal fascists who have threatened to kill him*
mobius: omg how could you betray me like this

there is something seriously disturbing about just how OFTEN loki gets accused of betrayal simply for… surviving. when you’re loki, just BEING ALIVE is an unpardonable offense.

People will really claim Mobius spent the whole show positively affirming Loki and being a pillar of support like a therapist with their whole chest

#honestly owen wilson would’ve also made for a great villain#then you could read the entire ep 1 time theatre scene as an attempt to deliberately break down loki

Wait, are there people who aren’t reading it that way?

Is there any other way read that scene?! The TVA is torturing Loki. Mobius is doing his job breaking Loki down so he’ll comply. There is literally no other reason to show Loki that tape.

Whether you think Mobius later does a Heel-Face Turn and becomes an ally is a different question. In Ep1? Mobius is a villain. Full stop.

Wait, are there people who aren’t reading it that way?

Apparently “Mobius is positive support, Loki just isn’t used to dealing with that and reacts bad” and “Loki isn’t used to being called out on his BS” are common takes

Not only have most people—fans and entertainment writers alike—read the scene as “therapy”. It was intended to be read that way. Mike Waldron and Kate Herron have repeatedly referred to that scene as a therapy session in interviews. Kate Herron has spoken about the “bonding” Mobius and Loki did in the first two episodes of the show and referred to Mobius as Loki’s “friend and mentor”.

The people who correctly see Mobius as a villain in that scene are, incredibly, the ones reading it wrong, according to the people who made the show.
